BASEBALL

Chargers win MAC game

North Montgomery and North Putnam moved their game from Tuesday to Monday to avoid possible weather-related issues. The Chargers led the entire game to win 8-3.

North Montgomery had 13 hits and were led by Tucker Hinds, which was a good sign for the visitors. The senior first baseman had not played since April 15 due to an injury. The Charger clean up hitter went 3-for-4 with one RBI and scored one run after missing the last nine games.

Cade Cole, Lincoln Heide, Lucky Young and Carter Thompson each had two hits. Thompson hit a two-run home run over left field fence in the sixth inning.

North Montgomery used three pitchers in the game. Starter Keaton Brown picked up the win and Crew Cole earned a save.

Monon Athletic Conference foe North Putnam had eight hits in the game.

North Montgomery (13-3, 6-3 MAC) will entertain the Cougars (2-13, 0-9 MAC) at 6 p.m. today at Charger Field.

 

SOFTBALL

Cougars down Chargers

North Montgomery traveled Monday to North Putnam and fell 5-0.

The loss broke the Chargers four-game winning streak.

North Putnam pitcher Tori Detro pitched a complete game and surrendered no hits.

Charger pitcher Mary Kate Patterson had a good outing. The freshman surrendered just five hits but her teammates had six errors.

North Montgomery (5-11, 2-7 MAC) will play host to North Putnam (10-4, 6-3 MAC) at 5:30 p.m. today.

 

TENNIS

Mustangs beat Athenians

Crawfordsville played at Fountain Central on Monday and lost 3-2.

Winners were FC’s No. 1 singles Elise Webb who defeated CC Cox 6-2, 6-0 and FC’s No. 3 singles Esme Muniz who defeated Kiera Toomey 6-1, 6-2. Crawfordsville’s No. 2 singles Mabel Hoard defeated Laney Hoagland.

The Mustang No. 1 doubles team of Savannah Bowers and Lilly Peterson beat Isla Seward and Alaina Hall 7-6 (4) and 6-2. Crawfordsville’s No. 2 doubles team of Elliott Baker and Sarah Melevage defeated Jayden Larkin and Rya Jackson 7-5, 6-2.

 

Tiger Cubs shutout North

North Montgomery lost 5-0 to Greencastle on Monday.

Scores were Greencastle’s No. 1 singles Allie Landry over Kate Merica 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 singles Rhoan Amis over Cassidy Thomas 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3 singles Reagan Labhart defeated Charger Caelyn Carpenter 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action, Greencastle No. 1 doubles team of Ellie Knuth and Keely Amis beat Lauren Kelp and Isabelle Hamby 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Spencer Fowler and Emma Hochstedler defeted Annie Hess and Scarlette Hamm 6-1, 6-0.

 

GOLF

Chargers fall short

North Montgomery went to Lebanon on Monday and lost 177-188.

Charger scores were Jayden Allen 44, Jackson Grundy 46 and Chase Tipton 48. Isaac Hamby and Brody Roche each recorded a 50.

The Chargers will play host today to Clinton Prairie at Rocky Ridge Golf Club.

 

Athenians beat Cougars

Crawfordsville defeated North Putnam 169-211 on Monday.

Athenian scores Jude Hurt 38 (medalist), Jordan Archer 43, Caiden Murray 44 and Owen Pierce  44.

Crawfordsville will face Attica and Seeger at the Crawfordsville Golf Course today.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASEBALL

Charger 8th wins again

North Montgomery Middle School’s eighth-grade team remained undefeated with a 16-1 win at Lebanon on Monday. The Chargers are 8-0.

Charger Tyson Pierce led his team with three hits and four RBI. North had 16 hits total.

Other Chargers with two hits apiece were Paxton Heide, Carson Neal, Cash Cole and Cam Simms.

North’s Trevor Hintz pitched three innings and gave up two hits and struck out four to earn the win.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL TENNIS

Stars down Mounties

Southmont was defeated by Western Boone 1-4 on Monday.

In singles action, Mountie Lea Gregg won 8-5. Southmont’s Ailise Bradshaw and Izzy Roberts came up short with scores of 5-8 and 3-8, respectively.

In doubles action, Mounties Andrea Allen and Rachel Reimondo fell 4-8, while Kailyn Howard and Anna Fenton lost 2-8.
