The Indiana Barn Foundation invites Hoosiers and visitors alike to experience one of Indiana’s favorite fall traditions during the 2026 Indiana Barn Foundation Annual Barn Tour on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This year’s self-guided driving tour will showcase some of Montgomery County’s most remarkable historic barns while celebrating Indiana’s rich agricultural heritage.
The annual tour offers a rare opportunity to step inside privately owned historic barns that are not typically open to the public. Along the route, barn owners, volunteers and local historians will share the stories behind these architectural treasures, highlighting their history, craftsmanship, preservation efforts, and the families who have cared for them through generations.
Set against the backdrop of Indiana’s autumn countryside, the tour invites guests to slow down, explore scenic back roads, and discover why historic barns remain among the state’s most recognizable and beloved landmarks. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, photographer, architecture lover, or simply looking for a memorable fall day trip, the Barn Tour offers something for everyone.
“Historic barns tell the story of Indiana’s agricultural past and the people who built our communities,” said Randy Miles, director of the Indiana Barn Foundation. “Our annual barn tour gives visitors a unique opportunity to experience these incredible structures firsthand while supporting efforts to preserve them for future generations.”
The Indiana Barn Foundation’s Annual Barn Tour is the organization’s signature fundraising event, with proceeds supporting statewide barn preservation through education, advocacy, grants, and public awareness programs. The Foundation’s mission is to preserve Indiana’s historic barns and inspire appreciation for their cultural, architectural, and agricultural significance.
Advance barn tour tickets are $20 for IBF members or $25 for non-members. Children 16 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased online at www.indianabarns.org until 5 p.m. Oct. 9 at the member/non-member price.
Tickets the day of the tour will be $25 for all and available in-person at Waynetown Christian Church, 101 W. Walnut St., Waynetown, which will serve as the day-of tour headquarters.
