Tom Fishero was recognized April 24 at the Indiana Statehouse for his 50 years of service as a volunteer firefighter with the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter Association. He has served the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department since he turned 18 and was still in high school. He served nearly half of those years as chief. He didn’t just show up occasionally. He showed up faithfully in all kinds of weather, at all times of the day and night and in all types of situations. Both of his sons, Gary and Wesley, also serve the department.
