Charles Wendell Rady, 92, of Roachdale passed away Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Sept. 4, 1934, to the late Charles P. Rady and Marie Galbreath Rady. Charles graduated from Roachdale High School in 1952 and proudly served his country from January 1957 until January 1961 in the U.S. Air Force.

Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed raising bird dogs. He loved traveling throughout the country to fish and had a special fondness for his beloved dog, Freckles. Family was of the utmost importance to Charles, and he cherished his nieces and nephews dearly.

He had an enormous love for his hometown of Roachdale and enjoyed attending many local functions and being involved in his community. Charles was a member of the Roachdale Gun Club and the Roachdale Trap Shooters. He retired from TDS Telephone Company after 20 years of service. He developed many life long friendships during his time there.

He is survived by brother Patrick S. Rady (Margaret); sister-in-law Roberta Rady; and many cherished nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marjorie Chittenden (Harold), Rosemary Priest (Raymond) and Betty Baird (Jim); and brother James E. Rady (Patty Lou).

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Roachdale Cemetery, with military rites. Servies Funeral and Cremation Services 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Charles will be remembered for his devotion to his hometown, his passion for fishing and hunting, and the many memories he made with those he loved.
