Eva M. Mikels Hamilton, 90, of the West Point community passed away at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, in Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital, she had been in failing health the past few months.

She was born Aug. 2, 1936, in Battleground, daughter of Robert and Ava Barnard Mikels. She married Glenn Ray Hamilton on April 18, 1958, in Lafayette. He preceded her in death March 8, 2009. She and Glen moved to the West Point community following their marriage.

Eva graduated from Battleground High School with the class of 1955. She went on to attend Ivy Tech Community College and studied office management. She was employed by the former Home Hospital 14 years a community education coordinator. She also operated Hamilton’s Greenhouse along State Road 25 south of West Point.

Eva was a long-time member of the West Point United Methodist Church, where she was an active member and always providing food for funeral dinners. She was also a former member of the OES. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and had made more than 100 pairs of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andys which she unselfishly shared with family, community and friends. She enjoyed cooking and was a great cook. She had a Persimmon tree which she nurtured and sold pulp and cookies. Eva was a very kind woman who had a quiet demeaner. After breaking her arm in May, she rolled noodles as therapy.

Surviving are daughters, Wendy Sumner of West Point, Kristy (Dean) Craig of West Point and Tracy (Tim) White of Paradise, Texas; grandchildren, Keith (Becky) Lank, Cody Hamilton, Wren (Josh) VanZant, Ellen (Zach) Dery, Peter Craig, Jeneva (Brandon) Sumner, Sebastian (Natalie) White and Ashley White; great-grandchildren, Elija Lank, Anna Lank and Elili VanZant; daughter-in-law Cindy Hamilton of Oxford; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glenn; son Mark; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Visitation hours will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior Monday, Oct. 5 at West Point United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mary Barnett officiating.

Memorial contributions are preferred to the West Point United Methodist Church or Cadet Park.
