After more than 18 years of service, Cheryl Keim will retire from the Montgomery County Community Foundation on June 18.
Keim joined the Community Foundation as development coordinator in 2008, transitioning to grants and community relations director — her current role — in 2011. During her time at the foundation, she has guided community organizations and projects alongside orchestrating twice-yearly grant cycles awarding millions to local nonprofit agencies.
“I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity,” Keim said. “It’s allowed me to get to know so many interesting, brilliant people, and see the great work they’re doing in our community in so many different areas — everything from human services and health to historical preservation, downtown and community development. It’s just amazing.”
One of her favorite memories from her role, she said, was witnessing the restoration of several paintings at the General Lew Wallace Study, a project funded by the Community Foundation.
Jenny Campbell, who has worked alongside Keim since January, will take over her position this summer. A Montgomery County resident and graduate of Western Governors University, Campbell previously worked as lead sponsored funding administrator at Purdue University.
“Cheryl has huge shoes to fill,” Campbell said. “Being on the nonprofit side is a whole different ball game. … It’s a really fulfilling job, and I’m so excited to be here.”
After her retirement, Keim plans to invest more time into her hobbies and interests, as well as spending more time with family.
