It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Amanda A. Alexander, born on April 10, 1944, she was welcomed into the gates of Heaven and reunited with her loved ones June 6, 2026, she passed away peacefully at Springhill Village in Terre Haute.
Amanda was a loving mother who was always fun to be around. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making her children laugh. She was generous, kind-hearted, and a devoted friend and mother-in-law. Amanda enjoyed sharing stories about the happy times and adventures she experienced throughout her life.
Over the years, Amanda worked in several different roles. She provided in-home care for an elderly woman, worked in the cafeteria at DePauw University, and spent time working the night shift at Walmart. She also worked at several factories in the Greencastle and Crawfordsville areas.
Amanda had a special love for animals, especially her beloved turtle. She also adored the many dogs she cared for throughout her life. In her free time, she enjoyed visiting thrift stores and yard sales, coloring, painting, and drawing. She collected turtles and angels and loved talking on her CB radio whenever she had the chance. Her CB handle was “Teddy Bear.”
She is survived by her loving children, James (Lisa) Bailey, David (Melissa) Snider, Daniel Snider and Amanda Alexander (Jathan Imhausen); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Robert “Bobby” Leplant; and her very best friend, Ann Cox of Tennessee.
Amanda was preceded in death by her birth parents, Mathew “Mac” Saylor and Amanda Ann “Mandy” Saylor; her adoptive parents, Virgil G. Cox and Gladys (Bell) Cox; brothers, Arnold L. Saylor, Donald M. Saylor, Lonnie Eugene Saylor and Ronald Edward “Eddie” Myers; sons, Mathew and Richard Snider; and grandsons, Caleb G. Bailey and James M. Bailey.
Funeral services for Amanda will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17 at Servies Funeral and Cremation Service, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
