Emmett E. Bonebrake, 92, of Browns Valley passed away Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
Emmett was born July 14, 1933, in West Lebanon, Indiana, to the late Emmett Ross Bonebrake and Golda I. (Pearson) Bonebrake. He was a 1952 graduate of West Lebanon High School and later attended UCLA, where he studied accounting.
Emmett proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his service, his ship, the USS Baltimore, participated in a parade for the Queen of England. While living in California, he worked in the accounting department for Bethlehem Steel. It was in Boston, Massachusetts that Emmett met and married Margrete H. McKinnon. She preceded him in death. Over the years, he also worked as a truck driver for several companies.
He was an avid Indiana University fan and especially enjoyed watching IU basketball.
Survivors include his sons, William Bonebrake (Kelli), Greg Bonebrake and Brian Bonebrake (Lara); three grandchildren, Danyelle, Kyle and Stacia; and three great-grandchildren, Ilyauna, Adalynn and Destiny. He is also survived by a niece, Gina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margrete H. Bonebrake; and his siblings, William Bonebrake, Mary Cockey and Betty Birkshire.
There will be a graveside service at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Freedom Cemetery, 6223 State Road 234, Crawfordsville. There will be visitation prior to the graveside service from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St. Waveland.
