Janet Elaine Remley Nuckols passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, May 19, 2026, surrounded by her entire family.
An avid outdoors lover, Janet spent much of her time working in her yard, boating, fishing, camping, traveling and especially enjoying time with her family, friends and grand dogs.
She worked alongside her mother at Remley Catering for more than 20 years, helping cater alumni banquets, service organization events, weddings and many other gatherings throughout Montgomery County and surrounding areas. She later retired from Banjo Corp. in 2012.
Janet was an active auxiliary member of the Brazil VFW Post 1127 and the Brazil American Legion Post 2, where she shared a deep passion for supporting American veterans.
Born in Crawfordsville, to the late Dale V. Remley and Doris M. Brock Remley. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1979 and was blessed shortly afterward with two wonderful children. On July 11, 2012, she married her best friend, Steven Dale Nuckols.
Janet will be fondly remembered by her loving husband, Steve; her children, Brian (Shellie) Osborn and Melissa (AJ) Bennett, both of Crawfordsville; and her stepson, Steven (Stephanie) Nuckols II of Brazil.
She was the proud grandmother of Caden Osborn (Jade Gann), Connor Osborn (Skyler Wence), Briley Bennett, Olivia Osborn and step-grandchildren, Shelby Ward (Austin Foster), Chase Nuckols (Ashtyn Witte) and Camri Nuckols.
She will be deeply missed by her siblings, Steven (Janice) Remley, Bill (Jane) Remley, Susie (David) Dillion, Ron (Terri) Remley and Carol (the late Don) Ellis, along with many nieces and nephews.
Per Janet’s wishes, a celebration of life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
