Jantice Burks, 88, passed away May 2, 2026, at her daughter’s house surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Ivan and Nellie Magnuson. On July 21, 1956, Jantice married the love of her life Billie Burks. He preceded her in death April 26, 2004.
Jantice worked as a dispatcher for INDOT for many years. She also was once the owner of Silver Shanty, a restaurant downtown Crawfordsville. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary and St. Bernards Catholic Church. She loved taking cruises, playing slot machines, playing bingo and most importantly the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving family includes, daughters, Frances (Bob) Alexander, Dede (Jeff) Cope, Tina (Jerry) Misner, Tammy (Jay) Hunter and Stephanie (Rick) Scott; 13 grandkids; 20 great-grandkids; and three great-great grandkids.
Jantice was preceded in death by her husband Billie; parents; and siblings, Vivan Moore, Joseph Magnuson, James Magnuson and Sharon Long.
Funeral Mass will be at noon Friday, May 8 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
