Jonathan Berlin Jones, 49, passed away on July 14, 2026.

Jon was born in Crawfordsville to Julie Proffitt Jones and Jon R. Jones on Oct. 3, 1976.

He was preceded in death by his father, and his infant son, Aristotle.

Jonathan is survived by mother, Julie Proffitt Jones; brother Jason I. Jones; grandson Xavier Cornett; and uncle Jeffrey David Proffitt and aunt Donna Lee Proffitt, and their extended family.

Jonathan graduated from North Montgomery High School where he received a multitude of art awards. He worked at Pace Dairy for 10 years prior to his apprenticeship at the original Mind’s Eye Tattoo located at the old Lyon’s Music on Green Street. He designed and created a new shop, located at 203 E. Main St., where he worked as owner, manager, and tattoo artist for 22 years.

Jonathan was often referred to as Drummer Jon as he was the drummer and percussionist of local rock band, Remote View, formerly known as The Pods. He began playing at age 4, and Mastered a unique sound all his own. Jon excelled at jazz as well as all forms of rock music. His diversity never ceased to amaze.

He was well liked in the community and loved and respected by family, peers, and co-workers. Jon was a nature and animal lover. He enjoyed target practice, car shows, tattoo conventions, and gardening. He looked forward to the Hell City Tattoo festival every year in Columbus, Ohio. He had an extensive collection of old cars, with his 1947 Ford as his prize possession. Social Distortion was his favorite band. He was an avid fan of Tom Waits. Tattooing was his passion.

A celebration of life will be held at Mind’s Eye Tattoo at a later date. Details will be announced by the family once arrangements are finalized.
