Margaret Jean Peebles, 80, passed away at home in Belton, Texas, on July 31, 2026, with her family at her side.
She was born Dec. 2, 1945, in Metcalf, Illinois, to Joseph Pugh and Naomi Bartlett Pugh. She graduated from Turkey Run High School in 1964. She married David L. Peebles on Dec. 31,1968.
She worked at RR Donnelly’s and Coast to Coast for several years before moving to Texas.
Margaret enjoyed feeding hummingbirds, playing bunco, working on crossword puzzles, traveling and spending time with her family.
Surviving family members include: husband David L. Peebles; son Lance (Martha) Peebles; daughter Erin (John) Hammond; sisters, Lorraine Cross, Mary Jo Farley, Janet (Ron) Lehr, Sue Thomas, Donna (Steve Shortridge) Poole and Candy (Greg) Gray; in-laws, Sandra (Peebles) Seipert, John Peebles and Royce Foster; grandchildren, Lauren (Andy) Nitchman, Meagan Hammond, Jackie Hammond, Andrew (Valerie) Peebles and Colin (Carlie) Peebles; great-grandchildren, Teagyn, Sophie and Drew Nitchman.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; brother John Bartlett; sisters, Betsy Knight, Madge Gill, Beverly MacNorton, Nola Parker and Nancy Kinkead; and in-laws, Perle, Paul, Joe, Butch, Carol, Rex, Peggy, Betty and Sharon.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at a later date.
