Marian L. Cass, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family April 20, 2026, at home outside of Crawfordsville.

She was born Oct. 10, 1933, to Merle and Martha (Grantham) Ellington in Crawfordsville. Marian married Henry Paul Cass on Nov. 28, 1953, at the First Christian Church in Crawfordsville.

Marian graduated from Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1951. After graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Co. She continued her career as a legal secretary, teacher’s aide and school secretary, until opening Cass Flowers and Greenhouse, the family greenhouse, flower shop and orchard. Marian was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Crawfordsville and formerly involved in their women’s groups and volunteered with the church activities. She enjoyed spending time in the garden and cooking for her family. Marian also was a talented seamstress and crocheted.

Marian is survived by her two children, Jeffrey (Darlene) Cass and Jennifer (Dale) Hankins; four grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Cass, Logan (Ellen) Cass, Jason (Misty) Hankins and Clinton Hankins; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Spencer, Harrison, Thatcher, Vivian, Conner (Adyssa Thompson) and Taylor (Payton Robbins); great-great grandson Aiden Hankins; and brother David Ellington; brother-in-law Lon (Sue) Cass; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Paul; and great-great granddaughter Isabella.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 24 at Sanders Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Grant Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Paul.
