Marjorie Jean Koperski of Lafayette passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the age of 85.
Marge was born to parents Margaret and Wendy Schenck on June 18, 1940, in Crawfordsville. She grew up in a large family of six children and attended Waynetown Schools in Waynetown. In 1959, she married Leon Koperski after a whirlwind three-week romance. They actually had two weddings, May 6, 1959 and Nov. 17, 1959 after Marge was confirmed in the Catholic church.
Leon and Marge had three children, Terry Wilson (Lance), Margie Michael (Dan) and Connie Koperski Barnhart. There are seven grandchildren, Desirae, Danielle, Dustin, Keith, Blake, Leah and Mandy. There are nine great-grandchildren.
She retired in 1999 to Okeechobee, Florida to enjoy the sunshine and good fishing.
Marge is survived by her daughters; sisters, Janet Fyffe (Rick), Betty Bretney (Gary) and Anna Cedars (Ray); and brother Rod Schenck (Connie).
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon; sister Barb Fruits; brother-in-law Butch Fruits; and parents Margaret and Wendy Schenck.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. June 28 at the Fruits Family pond, located at 2460 N. C.R. 400W, Crawfordsville. There will be a meal to follow.
