Merry Christine Irvin Voliva, 75, of Crawfordsville, who was born Christmas Day 1951, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, in Franciscan Health Lafayette East following a lingering illness.

She was born in Crawfordsville, daughter of the late Hubert and Florence Irene Lamb Irvine. She was a 1970 graduate of Coal Creek Central High School. After high school graduation Merry went on to attend Lafayette Business College.

On July 7, 1984, she married Steven Voliva in Crawfordsville and he survives. Merry retired in 2012 from Kroger in Crawfordsville, where she had been employed in the meat department. She grew up in the Pleasant Hill UCC in Wingate. She had a great sense of humor which served her well at Kroger. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching TV crime shows and animals of all types. But, most of all she loved to spoil her grandchildren and watch them in their activities.

Surviving, along with her husband Steven, are daughters, Karri Swick (Brad Gardner) of New Market and Shannan Voliva of Lafayette; son Donnie (Lora) Voliva of Ft. Wayne; sister Sue Wildman of Veedersburg; grandchildren, Cody (Heidi) Swick, Allison (Alex) Swick, Tyler (Jessica) Swick, Jacob and Grace Voliva, Blake and Lilly Gardner and Vyctoria (Zach) Gardner; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlin, Rachel and David Fedor plus one more Swick on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Barbara VanHook, Frances Beardsley, Nancy Hoskins and Earlen Foster.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 18 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral services following at 7 p.m. Pastor Mike Parks will officiate. Because of Merry’s love of animals, memorial contributions are suggested to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
