Richard Eugene Keck, 94, of Roachdale passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville, Indiana.

Born on Nov.  3, 1931, in Roachdale, Richard was the son of the late Estel Edward Keck and Mildred L. (Spencer) Keck. A lifelong member of the Roachdale community, he graduated from Roachdale High School with the Class of 1949.

On Nov. 24, 1950, Richard married the love of his life, Dianne Henley, in Indianapolis. Together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage until Dianne’s passing on Nov. 13, 2001.

Richard spent 15 years working at the local fertilizer plant and also dedicated many years to farming alongside several area farmers. He was a hardworking man who found great satisfaction in honest work and took pride in providing for his family.

When he wasn’t working, Richard enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting, especially for mushrooms and ginseng.

More than anything else, Richard treasured his family and friends. He was a kind, humble, and generous man who never sought recognition for himself. He often said he never wanted awards or praise, preferring instead to quietly help others whenever he could. His selfless spirit, gentle nature, and willingness to lend a helping hand will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Richard is lovingly remembered by his son, Keith M. Keck (Sandy); his daughter, Kara Magill; five grandchildren, Kelly, Alison (A.J.), Erica (Mike), Jake and Melissa (Clay); and eight great-grandchildren, Sasha, Ethan, Roslyn, Bailey, Reagan, Grant, Henley and Chance. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Keck, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dianne; his son-in-law, Bob Magill; his brother, Robert Keck; and his sister, Marjorie Bachert.

Richard’s legacy is one of quiet strength, humility, hard work and unconditional love for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 28 at Roachdale Cemetery, with Pastor David Bower officiating. Family and friends may gather from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral and Cremation Services, 102 E. Washington St., Roachdale.
