Vivian Marie Stoup Ocheltree Kunkle Merryman died on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026.

She was born April 9, 1937, in Stringtown, Indiana, the daughter of Clyde Russell (Tut) and Alice (Cronkhite) Stoup. She married Raymond Ocheltree (deceased) and had three children, Mary Sloan, Rodger (Fletch) Ocheltree and Dale (Teresa) Ocheltree. She then married William (Bill) Kunkle (deceased) and they had a daughter, Terri Kunkle Griffin (Larry Smith). In 1991, she married Sam Merryman.

She is survived by her husband Sam, her children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Donna Samples, Barbara Miles and Margaret Launius and brother William Russell (Polly) Stoup.

Vivian worked for Ridbo, Prowler Industries, Kingman School, L.B. Price and Dyna-Fab Corp. She enjoyed baking dozens of cookies at Christmastime for the elderly, shut-ins and friends. During her life she collected over 200 cookbooks. Most of all she enjoyed family get-togethers.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Raymond and William; sisters, Dorothy Dahnke and Louis Stoup; brother Gregory Stoup; and grandson Raymond Lee Ocheltree.

As per her request, her body was donated to the IU School of Medicine. She also requested no service and her wishes are being respected.
